How to Make a Cobra Paracord Bracelet (Beginner Friendly)

Paracord bracelets are fun to make and useful too. The cobra weave is one of the most popular paracord designs, and it’s a great place to start if you’re new to paracord crafting.  If you are here, you probably purchased one of our beginner supply kits.  I hope you enjoy these resources.

Follow these steps and you’ll have your own bracelet in no time.

Supplies

  • 10 feet of paracord
  • 3/8 inch buckle
  • Scissors or a knife
  • Lighter
  • Ruler

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Find the middle of your cord

Hold both ends of the paracord together. Slide your fingers down until you reach the fold. This is the center of the cord.

2. Attach the buckle

Push the folded middle of the cord through one side of the buckle.
Pull the loop through a little.

Now bring the buckle through the loop and pull it tight.
This knot is called a cow hitch.

3. Thread the other buckle piece

Separate the buckle pieces.

Take the two loose cord ends and slide them down through the other side of the buckle. Make sure the cords are not twisted.

4. Measure your bracelet

A cobra bracelet should be 1 inch longer than your wrist.

Wrap the cord around your wrist and mark where it meets the middle of the cord. Check this measurement with a ruler.

Example:
If your wrist is 7 inches, make the bracelet 8 inches long.

Measure from the smooth buckle side to the bottom of the teeth on the other side.

5. Tie your first knot

Take the right cord and bring it over the two center cords.

Take the left cord and bring it over the right cord.
Then bring it behind the bracelet and up through the loop.

Pull the cords tight.

6. Tie the next knot

Now start from the left side.

Bring the left cord across the middle cords.
Bring the right cord over it, around the back, and through the loop.

Pull it tight.

7. Keep repeating the knots

Continue tying knots and switch sides each time.

Slide each knot up so it sits close to the last one.

You’ll see a neat pattern forming along the bracelet.

8. Finish the bracelet

When you reach the end, make one last tight knot.

Loosen the last two knots slightly and push the loose cords through the loops underneath. Then tighten the knots again.

9. Cut and seal the ends

Trim the extra cord about 1/8 inch from the bracelet.

Use glue to stick the ends down or a lighter to gently melt the ends. Press them lightly so they stay in place.

Your bracelet is finished and ready to wear.
