Marketing & Teacher Recruitment Specialist (Independent Contractor)
Handmade U – Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid)


Position Overview

Part‑time contractor responsible for driving marketing campaigns and sourcing craft instructors for Handmade U.

  • Hours: 4 hrs/week (≈16 hrs/month)
  • Compensation: $250/month (paid the 1st of each month)
  • Contract: 1099 independent contractor
  • Start: ASAP
  • Location: Remote with option to work occasionally on‑site at our Philadelphia studio

Core Responsibilities

Marketing • Plan and schedule one monthly campaign (8–10 social posts, 2 email newsletters)
• Repurpose existing content (Reels, Stories, short‑form video)
• Track and report reach, clicks, and conversions (1‑page recap)

Teacher Recruitment • Source 5+ qualified craft instructors monthly via online communities and local networks
• Conduct initial screening calls and portfolio reviews
• Maintain candidate pipeline in Google Sheets

Required Skills & Experience

 

  • Proficient in different social media platforms, email marketing, and basic design tools (e.g., Canva)
  • Demonstrated success in talent sourcing or community outreach
  • Strong copywriting skills matched to brand guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Metrics‑oriented approach to marketing performance

Preferred

  • Familiarity with AI‑driven marketing tools (e.g., ChatGPT)
  • Existing network within Philadelphia maker or art‑education communities
  • Experience promoting events or workshops

Performance Goals (90 Days)

  • 10 % increase in average class bookings
  • Pipeline of 15+ vetted instructors available for upcoming sessions
  • Consistent use of Handmade U brand assets and tone across all content
